The Crazy’s
Posted on 06/29/08 8:58 AM| by team-admin

The team departed on a mountain crossing into a stretch or mountains properly named, Crazy. This imposing mountain grows high into the sky with a covering of white, at some points, passing almost all the way down to its base. No matter who you ask they will tell you it is by far the most beautiful place on the course. Fields of wild flowers seem to go on forever and the sunset beams the most beautiful colors nature has to offer onto miles and miles of rolling fields, i have a hard time trying to describe this place because even a picture cant do it justice. You must experience it and i have no doubt this amazing place will stop you in your tracks. Even with all of its beauty this was one of the hardest treks the team had to do. They had to cross snow fields that wet there feet and even had to slide down parts of them. Dangerous is a understatement Brunton crossed fields of loose rocks which slide from under  there feet constantly sending rocks falling down the steep mountain side. All was not bad in the crazy’s though they got to see a part of the world not many others will and even came across a bear and its cub. This wilderness will have to throw a lot more at our team to break them, as they walked into view of the TA they approached walking backwards up the trail singing “She’s lost that loving feeling” and to say the least they had the entire camp in stitches, these four will be remembered at this race, i promise you that.

Keep up the great work - it seems like you have gotten your second wind and you are ready to finish this thing! To keep up with the fun atmosphere I have an idea; that may red flag them for a psyc. exam. Being from Chi-town, “Take me out to the ball game” was always sung during the 7th-inning stretch. To tweek it a bit, how about a 7th inning rest to celebrate their 75% completion. This should be around where they jump back onto Rt. 191 in the next Mt. bike portion. Sing it loud and proud! :) Stay strong and focused! Think before you step. It is a mental challenge from here on out.

TEAM BRUNTON - Let’s see…..eleven teams have withdrawn from the race and four are racing unofficially because one or more of their members dropped out. Of the teams remaining you are ahead of three of them. So, in reality you are in front of 18 teams 15 of which will never catch you! There are also a bunch of teams in front of you that have heard about your singing prowess and know that you are on their heels…:-)

    KEEP DRIVING and KEEP LAUGHING!
(Nice job getting through and enjoying the Crazy Mountains)

By the way, I think that we would all like to see video of you guys singing your version of “She’s lost that lovin feeling”.

  18. Patrick Bateman UNITED KINGDOM Says:

    James-

Much like the rest, I am shocked to learn that you chose to sing the Rightous Brothers, surely Genesis could not have been far from your heart. Just recall the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I’ve heard in rock. If I were u, in a similar situation, In Too Deep would have been my call.

    Godspeed,

    Patrick

  19. Tim Colgan UNITED KINGDOM Says:
